A healthy gut is the seat of a healthy body and a happy mind. It is far more than just a digestion factory. Together with the trillions of microbes you host, your gut helps to modulate your mood, your weight and levels of systemic inflammation. It is vital to you immune system and is where many of your B vitamins are made.

But it’s very easy for things to get out of balance. Stress, poor food choices, lack of sleep, medications, binge drinking, food intolerances – these all take their toll and we can end up with:

FAQs

It’s normal to have a lot of questions at this stage. Here are my most commonly asked questions:

1) Remove foods that are irritating your GI tract and address bacterial overgrowth orpathogens.

2) Replace digestive secretions such as digestive enzymes, stomach acid or bile acids.These may be compromised due to stress, age, poor diet or medications.

3) Repopulate: Time to make sure the gut bacteria is as healthy as possible with pre andprobiotic foods and potentially supplements.

4) Repair the environment in the GI tract. This includes the lining of the gut with nutrientssuch as vitamins A and D, collagen from bone broths and L-glutamine.

5) Rebalance our lifestyle habits incl. managing stress, improving sleep and balancedexercise levels
